Introduction
Before Covid-19, Nairobi Tech Week (NTW) was(is) Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest annual tech event for product makers, bringing various actors and influencers within the tech ecosystem into one space to exhibit the forefront of innovation and technology. Nairobi Tech Week primarily focuses on tech makers such as entrepreneurs, designers, developers, data scientists, students, engineering managers and more.
The fourth edition of Nairobi Tech Week event in 2019 was a huge success, thanks in part to the strong leadership and campaign management of by the marketing team that I was leading at the time. The event, which was held at Strathmore Business School, attracted an attendance of 1500 people, and received endorsements from major tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, GitHub, AngelHack, and GIZ.
Event Planning and Campaign Management:
This was my first major campaign at Moringa School (being only 3 month’s old in the company), I played a crucial role in the planning and campaign management of the event, working closely with the organizing committee to ensure that all aspects of the event were well-coordinated. This included developing a clear marketing strategy, creating marketing materials, and managing the event’s social media presence.
We led the marketing campaign for the event, which included a comprehensive approach that reached out to the target audience through various channels. This included creating engaging content on social media, utilizing email marketing, and reaching out to key influencers in the tech industry. These efforts helped to create a buzz around the event and attract a large number of attendees.
Endorsement from Major Tech Companies
One of the key successes of the event was the endorsement from major tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, GitHub, AngelHack, and GIZ. I played a key role in helping the organizing committee in securing these endorsements by building relationships with these companies and effectively communicating the value of the event to them through sponsorship packages and pitch decks that they used to hook these partners.
